Thirds seal local derby win

A half century from Robert Scullion helped the Thirds to a comfortable 62 run win over local rivals Barrow Town’s Seconds to boost themselves up to second in Division Four Central.

Having been put in on a tough track Sileby posted 199 for 4 thanks to Scullion’s 74 and skipper Pete Willcocks’ unbeaten 44.

Only Sam Nightingale offered any meaningful resistance for the home side with 43 before becoming one of four wickets for Asim Khan (4-32) as the home side were bowled out for 137 with three overs and one ball still in hand.

There were also braces of wickets for Will Rossiter (2-11), Chris Preston (2-25) and Kieran Chance (2-36) while wicketkeeper Sean Dudley pouched three catches and a stumping to help boost Sileby to nine points shy of leaders Maher Stars ahead of their home date with fourth placed Birstall Village, who are 19 points back, at Mill Lane.
