Newtown leapfrog Seconds after Mill Lane win

Newtown Linford’s First leapfrogged over Sileby’s Seconds after their comfortable seven wicket win at Mill Lane on Saturday.

Having been put in on a green top at Mill Lane, Sileby struggled to get going as the Newtown seamers recorded wickets at regular intervals with only skipper Micky Ruddle making a dent in the scorebook with 27 while eight batsmen registered single figure scores.

Steve Armson was the chief wicket taker for the visitors but he also threw down 25 in wides in his figures of 4-56 from ten overs as Sileby were bowled out for 157.

Dean Scaysbrook was the cornerstone of the Newtown reply with an unbeaten 71 as the visitors cantered home with 18 overs and seven wickets in the bank – Will Legg was the leading wicket taker for Sileby with 2-22.
